17th Judicial District Attorney’s Office Files First-Degree Murder Charge Against Zamien Rivas


Brighton, CO – The District Attorney’s Office announced today the filing of criminal charges against Zamien Rivas, 25, related to the alleged stabbing death of a male victim on March 25, 2026, near East 88th Avenue and Grant Street in Thornton. 

Rivas is charged with: 

  • First-Degree Murder (F1)
Case number 2026CR000901 was filed in Adams County District Court. Rivas' next court appearance is on May 14, 2026, at 8:30am in Division E. 

The filing of a criminal charge is merely a formal accusation that an individual(s) committed offense(s) under Colorado laws. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. See Colo RPC 3.6.
