17th Judicial District Attorney’s Office Files Attempted Murder Charges Against Casandra Rocha-Martinez

Brighton, CO – The District Attorney’s Office announced today the filing of multiple charges, including counts of attempted murder, against Casandra Rocha-Martinez, 19, in connection with a shooting at a residence near East Bridge Street and South 8th Avenue in Brighton on January 31, 2026. Three individuals were injured in the shooting. Following the incident, the defendant allegedly fled the scene at a high rate of speed and later crashed into a building near 27th Avenue, resulting in serious bodily injury to a passenger in the vehicle.

Rocha-Martinez is charged with: 

  • First-Degree Attempted Murder (F2) (7 Counts)
  • First-Degree Assault (F3) (3 Counts)
  • Illegal Discharge of a Firearm (F5)
  • Vehicular Eluding (F4)
  • Leaving the Scene of an Accident (F4)
  • Vehicular Assault (F4)
  • Vehicular Assault (F5)
  • Second-Degree Motor Vehicle Theft (F4)
  • Large-Capacity Magazine Prohibited -- During Crime (F6)
  • Crime of Violence (SE) (4 Counts)

Case number 2026CR000307 was filed in Adams County District Court. Rocha-Martinez's next court appearance is on February 25, 2026, at 8:30am.
