17th Judicial District Attorney's Office Files First-Degree Murder Charge Against Jose Valdez-Canas

Brighton, CO —Today, the 17th Judicial District Attorney’s Office is announcing the filing of a First-Degree Murder charge against Jose Valdez-Canas, 25, related to the death of a 31-year-old male victim at a home along Ruth Way in unincorporated Adams County on January 5, 2024. 

Valdez-Canas is charged with:  
  • First-Degree Murder (F1)
  • Tampering with a Deceased Human Body (F3)
  • Abuse of Corpse (F6)
Case number 2024CR000062 was filed in Adams County District Court. Valdez-Canas' next court date is scheduled for Thursday, January 11, 2024, at 8:30am in Courtroom G. 

The filing of a criminal charge is merely a formal accusation that an individual(s) committed a crime(s) under Colorado laws. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. See Colo RPC 3.6.
